Would you care to explain what was in the article that reminded you of the Amway salesman, please?
Not all of us have access to the mags.
when i read the article,it reminded of a new amway recruit.who bragged to his upline (big top pin) of how many amway tapes he placed w/o realizing that it was a scam and his business support material (tapes) were a cash cow for his upline.. likewise, jw reading this article w/o realizing (ruling the roost) are scamming them..

i thought i'd take a look at how the 2012 jw survey is progressing, and i was particularly interested to note the broad spectrum of responses from the 8 serving elders who have so far voted.
i thought i would share these with you.... .
question: in what capacity do you currently serve as an elder?.
Also, the fact that they participated already indicates a bias toward disagreeing with the WTBTS heirarchy and doctrines.
That is something to remember before getting too excited over the results.
But, it's great that the internet allows for anonymous dissent against the WTS and these elders are making the most of this.
the watchtower is against feng shui, it has been mentioned in the magazines, maybe blondie can find the quotes for us.
.
I've read up on Feng shui in the past... i think it can be done naturally in regards to natural energy flows etc. You don't necessarily need a book to tell you if the room has good energy or not.

Too lazy to do your own research again?

Hi and welcome Frances
Nugget, that sounds very interesting. I'll look forward to hearing your take on the sessions. Interesting how when attendence is a choice it makes it less of a chore.
i just read this in our local newspaper this morning and thought it is very interesting.
this law is aimed at door to door marketing by companies but i am wondering if this may end up including religious 'sales persons'.
the comments below the story are worth reading as jw's and religious callers are definitely who many people want stopped under this new law.. .
BP I assume you have never made a mistake, are you always so rude, or is it just on this forum?
All the above.
It annoys me greatly when Americans assume the rest of the world is just like them. A little education never hurt.
he is one of my favorite posters, i look him up from time to time.
.
Our resident mysogist is also missing.
come this july, i will have been out of the jw's for 20 years.
and it has been quite a long time since i've really spent any serious time studying up on jw news and doctrines although i do still read here occasionally.
but after today looks like i've got some work to do.. my first sergeant called me this morning asking for my help to fix his dad's truck as i'm an auto technician in my civilian job.
Good job, mate

Do they have set prices for the literature in Australia or do they go with the "donation arrangement"?
Up until July 2000 there were set prices. In July 2000 a Goods and Sales Tax (GST) was introduced by the Aust govt for everything sold in Australia, so when that happened, the magazines started to be offered on a "donation" arrangement.
I do not know much about Australian law, but they have a Bill of Rights based on the American bill.
This reminds me of a saying: It's better to be thought an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove it beyond doubt.
it has come to my knowledge that a number of verses are missing from the new world translation - so i would like forum members to write me a verse to make it complete.. .
lets start with... rev 23:1. i will never use an organisation to run my religious affairs.
i am way bigger than that.. .
7. Don't get caught up interpreting scriptures. Just be nice to one another.
8. If you can't be nice, just stay away from them or ignore them. That's what my Mum used to say.
9. Some days are diamonds, some days are stones. Oh wait, that's a song lyric...
